Did you know the Red Cross provides a training program based on the national EMS educational standards for an Emergency Medical Responder?
Emergency Medical Response is a dynamic 56-hour course featuring lecture, video, simulated emergency situations, discussion and hands-on skill practice based on the national EMS curriculum requirements and educational standards.
While Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) does not provide state licensure or certification as an Emergency Medical Responder, this course is ideal for people wanting to receive training similar to the training EMS professionals receive as they look to enter careers in healthcare, public safety, or law enforcement, trail guides, ski patrol, overlanders, ect.
Audience
Professionals in emergency medical care who may be responsible for initial assessments, the provision of safe and prudent care, and the transport of a patient to the most appropriate healthcare facility.
Prerequisites
Participant must be certified in Standard First Aid with CPR level C.
Completion
- Successfully demonstrate the required skills
- Minimum 75% mark for written, closed book, knowledge evaluation
- Successfully complete two evaluated scenarios (one medical and one trauma)
- Attend and participate in 100% of the course
Certification
3-year certification in Emergency Medical Responder (digital certificate issued upon successful completion)
